Bo’s Time Flies Airplane Cake Smash, Scott Depot WV

 Airplane Cake Smash

I loved meeting this sweet family! As soon as Donette told me the theme for the shoot I was so excited! An airplane themed cake smash! YES! BO was in the NICU and the first outfit the nurses put him was a Captain Adorable shirt and she wanted to incorporate it into the shoot! I just thought that was such a sweet idea and seeing him hold that tiny little onesie, how could he have ever been so tiny? BO couldn’t have been cuter in his aviator hat and he was all about the cake! I loved getting the pictures of Bo and his cake smash, but I have to admit some of my favorites were of his older brother sneaking some cake! BO is lucky to have a best friend to grow up with and he kept me cracking up throughout the session!

Farm Photo Session With Baby Goats, New River Gorge WV

My husband and I have always dreamt of having a small farm and homestead! Neither of us grew up on a farm and we are  both pretty clueless about farming, but it was a calling our hearts had. We started out with a couple chickens, the gateway farm animal. Then it was a friend that had pigs that were looking for a forever home, then it was what’s a couple of goats and so on. We envisioned our little family living off the grid and growing our own food, making fresh cheeses and living the farm life. Our farm probably isn’t the picturesque farm you have in your head when you think of a farm, but to us its perfect and we  are where we want to be. Our patchwork fence shows the constant battle to keep our goats in each mending telling a story.   There is a crooked chicken coop that is made with love.  I have learned a lot about farming on our adventures so far. Sometimes when we think we don’t have what it takes to be farmers we get to witness magical moments that remind us why we love it so much! Seeing our sweet Does give birth and witnessing new life upclose is incredible! I am so thankful to be raising our little one on the farm!   We are really lucky to have the support system we do with local farmers helping us on our adventures into farming! We have awesome goat mentors that have held our hands along the way and answered our crazy questions at all hours. Shout out to Shelley and Don Hutcheson at Twiggity farm for being there for us! Watching Willow see the baby goats for the first time was magical! These are  the kind of sweet moments I love capturing!

Wildflower Maternity Photo Session WV

I’ve always dreamed of doing a gorgeous maternity shoot in a field of wildflowers as far as you can see! One small problem, I couldn’t find a huge field of wildflowers, but I did find a small patch by an  intersection. I am so grateful that Rachael and Dustin were so willing to go for my crazy shenanigans!  They were so fun to shoot, both glowing with joy! You can see the love when they look at each other. Racheal was stunning with the perfect baby bump and I’m obsessed with her dress!wildflower maternity wv

Easter Fun Hurricane WV

I love this time of the year and watching the forest come alive! The trees are blooming, ramps are popping up, and we are serenaded by peeps!Ahhhhh! I love it! I also just inhaled a peanut butter egg, the really good kind that church ladies slave over so I’m running on a sugary high! Life is good! I have had  the pleasure of photographing so many beautiful families and sweet little ones and I am excited to be starting off spring with a bang and doing so many fun Easter Sessions.   Today I want to invite you in to get a glimpse of our families Easter. For as long as I can remember I have loved Easter and loved the big family gatherings, playing with cousins and hunting eggs. Not to mention the delicious food! Let’s keep it real, this is still one of my favorite things about Easter! Deviled Eggs and Peanut butter Eggs galore!  Family members have moved, and its hard to have those big family gatherings like we used to, but I cherish those memories.  Knowing this I had to break out my camera and capture these sweet moments  because I know they fly by too fast. I am luckily because I got to see a lot of family this past weekend and we enjoyed starting new traditions too! Willow got to participate in her first Easter Egg hunt and it was a blast!  She was pumped just carrying around two eggs and was more pumped to play with her beloved  rabbits! We started with one bunny this spring and then that turned into it needed a friend and that turned into were now bunny hoarders ha!   Looking at these pics makes me feel  so blessed and I am so thankful that I can capture these sweet moments for my family and yours! Thanks!

Valentine’s Day Winter Engagement Session New River Gorge

It’s awesome when you can call up your friends and they are down to go on a little snowy adventure to do  a super fun Valentine’s Day Winter Engagement Session in the New River Gorge! I am so grateful that they were down  to put up with below freezing temps! I am so excited that Karrah and Brian will be tying the knot! They are an awesome fun couple and you can really see how much they love each other! Also we should take a minute to point out they are a gorgeous couple and Karrah is a snow princess! Although they are both gorgeous I have to admit  the true star of the shoot was  Molly  the model pooch, and she knew it! I love photo sessions with fur babies!  This has been the most adventures engagement session that I have done to date, but that is totally fitting for this couple! We started the session with  a beautiful hike out Fern Creek Trail and then hit the road after some near by gunfire. Then we  headed to play around some frozen waterfalls and huge icicles.  Crazy fact about this adventurous  couple, Brian has kayaked over these waterfalls and Karrah has worked as a zipline guide flying high above this creek! I also learned that standing under giant icicles is super sketch as one came crashing down when we walked away!  This is the kind  of shoot I love , where I can just tag along on a fun adventure and capture moments as they unfold! I love that their love is real and you can see it in their eyes when they look at each other! Thanks  for letting me tag along! I am excited to see all  your future adventures together!

Night to Shine Scott Depot, WV

I was blessed to attend the Night to Shine Event sponsored by the Tim Tebow Foundation at the Church at the Depot in Scott Depot WV. This event was incredible! I had an amazing time! Guests were given the royal treatment from hair and makeup to  shoe shining upon arrival! Then they got to pick out beautiful corsages and boutonnieres before loading up in the limo and strutting their stuff on the red carpet! This night was AMAZING! My heart is full from so many shining smiles that lit up the night and I am so thankful I got to be a part of it! So many people came together to make this Prom an amazing event and you could feel the message of love!

I was so excited to team up with Sugar Pie Bakery in Charleston WV, to to offer Valentines Day  Cupcake Mini Sessions! I knew I wanted to do cupcake themed mini sessions for Valentine’s Day because it would be super adorable and I love me some cupcakes! It was important to me that I use the most delicious cupcakes around so I was so excited that Sugar Pie Bakery was on board with the idea of doing the cupcake sessions in their shop! This has been the SWEETEST set up for mini sessions that I have done to date! The cupcakes were sooooo DELICIOUS!!!! I also want to send a big thanks to everyone who came out to get their cupcake on! The cuteness was above and beyond what I could have imagined! These sessions were so much fun!   I am also proud of myself for using a little bit of self control around all of these cupcakes. This would not have happened on Mudslide day! That gooey chocolate is irresistible team Mudslide all the way! This was my first time teaming up with a local business for mini sessions and I am so thankful it was with the awesome folks at Sugar Pie Bakery. They really are a sweet business even beyond their delicious treats. They do so much for the community and for so many charities! It warms my heart to know that they donate cupcakes daily to organizations like Hospice and Trinity’s Table! If your looking for something sweet for valentines day from a business that has a lot of heart you should stop by and check them out!  Or if your like me sometimes you just gotta “Treat Yo Self”! Reunited Retreat Little WV Workshop Charleston WV

One of my goals going into the New Year is to continue to learn and grow with photography! I want to educated myself on the business side of things and really focus on ways to enhance the overall experiences that my clients have!  To do this I jumped at the incredible opportunity to attend The Reunited Retreat  with the Little WV Workshop hosted by Ashton Kelley Photography.

I had been looking forward to this retreat for so long, but I was starting to think it was not going to happen with storm Jonas scheduled to arrive at the same time. I truly feel blessed by Ashton and the mentors who worked so hard to make this event happen and to have such a supportive family that insured that I could attend.

We live on a homestead so making arrangements to go out of town was proving to be a little more difficult with the storm approaching. We had just lost power and with the cold temps this caused our pipes to freeze. I went out and braved all the milk and bread sandwich eating crazies in search of water and luckily got my hands on some of the last jugs at the Piggly Wiggly. We stalk piled up supplies and continually melted snow on the woodstove to be prepared for the animals. It’s also kidding season and I had estimated that all of the kids would arrive at least two weeks before the retreat. I was wrong. Luckily my sweet mom came to the rescue and volunteered to watch the farm and animals while we were gone. She seriously showed up with a full sterile suit and was ready to become a goat midwife. I am pretty sure she was terrified at the possibility of delivering goat babies, but she played it off like she delivered goat babies all the time and assured me that all would be well and that I had to go to the retreat. She’s the best!

We hit the road early and got infront of the storm. As we arrived at the hotel I was immediately greeted by Ashton with open arms, then I explained to her how I hadn’t showered in a while so she might want to reconsider the hug haaa. Bless her heart for running around like a crazy mamma bear making sure everyone arrived safely.

The retreat kicked off in the evening with a fun Pj party and introductions!  The conference room sparkled as we walked in. The room was lined with delicious sweets and beautiful treats! Not to mention beautiful flowers! I love me some Peonies and stuffing my face on sweets! There were even adorable tepees full of pillow nests to set the scene for the partBlack and Gold Treat Tabley.

Heart cookies2016-02-01_0005.jpgLittle WV WorkshopIt just got better heading into the weekend. Two days with speakers and presentations from ladies who are leading the industry. We got to hear from Andrea Martin, Britni Edwards, Amy Miller, Kelly Broyles, Autumn Branscome, Callie Lindsey, Angie Tracey, Sarah Dunlap, Alicia Wiley, and Ashton Kelley! What an incredible opportunity to attend! I learned so much that I can’t wait to incorporate into my business and life, it was truly inspirational! Thank you so much to all the mentors who took the time to volunteer to help us grow and learn! What is so special about this group is that these ladies are constantly there to lift others up and to answer questions and give support even outside of these events! I am still blown away by this!

The inspiration continued with a Surprise  Snowy Bridal shoot! I had so much fun playing in the snow with my Shutter Sister homies  and getting to shoot these beautiful ladies and beautiful dresses.  This gorgeous shoot was styled by Laura Jill Reynolds with Simply Gorgeous Events and the makeup was done by Natalie Contrera. The beautiful models were Hannah Hicks, Megan O’Dell, and Natalie Contrera.Snowy Bridal Shoot

I cannot say enough about how thankful I am to be able to attend an event like this and be a part of this group. I cannot say enough to praise this group and Ashton and all she does for us! This workshop is unlike any other because it is a community! Ashton truly cares about helping people in the industry and it doesn’t end after these events and that is amazing!  I am so thankful for all of her hardwork and everything that she does for us!  I don’t think there is another workshop with a leader with a bigger heart! She really encourages us to chase our dreams and ” Make it Happen”!   It was an awesome weekend spent with awesome company! It is so uplifting to be surrounded by such a wonderful group of creative ladies!  I am lucky to be able to call so many in this industry friends and to have such a wonderful community of support!
